I do.
For many of us the computer and/or television is the center of lives. They are fine I think in moderation, but ideally, I think one’s individual life would be much, much better without screen time. What could one be doing without them? Well, he/she could be reading, socializing with family or friends, exercising, doing homework, etc. The benefits are endless. The benefits for screens? Well, for television I’d argue that it has no positive effects. Even if you watch tv or a movie with friends/family, you’re still hardly communicating with them. Computer is highly debatable. Sure, there’s wikipedia and all those sites with educational value, but really, if you use the computer as a learning tool, don’t you think that reading a book, newspaper or magazine is more efficient? You may say, “no, the computer is just as good. What’s the differance?” Well, the difference is that on the computer we multitask. We go from site to site, aimlessly. We never really learn about something in depth, do we? Take a look at how many windows you have open now. Then, look at the book. when reading, one is undistracted and learns much more about a more specific topic.
I don’t know, you may think my argument is bogus, but I am adamant. Each of our lives would be better without screens. However, moderate use is acceptable, but over 1/2, maybe 1 hour each day is not moderation.
*Note: I do appreciate how computers have revolutionized how we work, from an accountant to a student doing homework. There is of course, value in that, and I have no qualms against this type of computer use.
Also, it may seem hypocritical that I’m posting this arguement online. Heh, you got a point there…but don’t worry! I’m trying to limit myself. I’m human too!
I just wrote this up on a whim, so please excuse me if i’m not thorough or you don’t understand me at all

I agree but I don’t ascribe to it for ME!
))) The world has changed…no one knows how to relate or communicate anymore. Everything is IM’D, facebooked, emailed, or whatever! You drive through banks, cleaners, food, pharmacies etc. No reason to get out of a car anymore or talk to anyone or deal with anyone face to face.
No one knows how to spell anymore…everything is texted..from serious questions to porn pictures.
Picking up a phone or driving to see someone is considered OLD FASHIONED and that is one of the reasons many teens today do not know how to handle themselves.
Have you bee to a movie lately? EVERY ONE is sitting there in teh movie texting, phoning and sending….why to go to a movie if you are irritating others that paid good money to see a movie if you aren’t going to WATCH IT?
Today’s world is getting more rude and inconsiderate…..and it is sad.
All this technology and everyone forgets manners and that the world doesn’t revolve around them. They are after all in their own world facing one screen after another.
I do understand what you are saying…but how do you stop it?
I am 61…I can play! I have had my education and my jobs and I have time.
