That is a good point. However youtube is a collection of independent videos from thousands of people and TV is run by less than 12 corporations.

with television specifically there is the chronic addiction rate, and the purposeful manipulation/direction of the information stream by whom ever has the most money. With broadcast it is possible to cleverly manipulate the output, while with a multicast system the only feasible means of control is through censorship, and humans are generally repulsed by obvious censorship.
But what’s the difference between TV and YouTube? (and all the other stuff we watch?)
Doesn’t everything around us affect the way we think and react?
